For any nurses who want additional preparation resource for orthopedic specialty certification exam, and anyone who wants to learn more about orthopedic care. These modules are suitable for nurses who have a desire to learn about or refresh knowledge in specific areas of orthopedic.

Course Outcomes

  • What is the Basic Orthopedic Nursing? A series of three online learning modules which cover some of common orthopedic trauma, orthopedic condition, and orthopedic surgery. Who is this learning opportunity for? Any nurses who want additional preparation resource for orthopedic specialty certification exam, and anyone who wants to learn more about orthopedic care. These modules are suitable for nurses who have a desire to learn about or refresh knowledge in specific areas of orthopedic. Why are these important? Continuing education and competencies development is within nurses’ scope of practice. There is a need for onging orthopedic care as trending indicating the number of patient require orthopedic care is continuously on the raise. Orthopedic patients are cared for throughout the healthcare system by a wide range of health care professionals. Caring for these patient population can be complex, specialized knowledge and skills can enhance the quality provided to this patient population.
  • - This session will cover some of the common orthopedic conditions. - The pathophysiology and anatomy knowledge are embedded through knowledge application of each case studies. - (Anklylosing Spondylitis, Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, development dysplasia of the hip, club foot, Osteogenesis Imperfecta) - Describe relevant diagnostic test, intervention and nursing consideration with each condition. - Identify the potential complications and management.
  • - With this learning session, the information of the case studies covers some of common orthopedic surgeries. - Describe each surgical interventions, nursing care plan and nursing considerations. - Describe the principles of range of motion and mobility.
  • - This session covers some of the common orthopedic traumas. - The pathophysiology and anatomy knowledge are embedded through knowledge application of each case studies. - Describe relevant diagnostic test, intervention and nursing consideration with each condition. - Identify the potential complications and their management.
