The Orthopaedic Nursing Associations of Canada (CONA),
United States (NAON) and the Royal College of Nursing/Society of Orthopaedic and
Trauma Nurses (RCN/SOTN) of the UK have agreed to form an international
alliance for the purpose of advancing the practice of orthopaedic nursing
globally.
VISION: a future in which orthopaedic nurses
will be responsible for the universal application of the highest standards of
orthopaedic nursing practice and care.
MISSION: to advance the quality of
musculoskeletal care internationally by facilitating the sharing of ideas and
collaboration in the areas of orthopaedic nursing research, education, and
practice.
The strategies that we identified for accomplishing
this mission are:
-
improving communication among respective
counterparts including journal/newsletter editors, research leaders,
education leaders, and practice leaders.
-
celebrating International Orthopaedic Nurses Day on
October 30.
-
continue ongoing e-mail communications to discuss
new ideas.
-
providing time at our respective conferences to
report to the membership on the work of the Alliance.
