Starting A Chapter With CONA
-
Hold an information meeting and determine if there is enough interest in
forming and maintaining a chapter. (Okanagan advertised at all different
hospitals in their area. Perhaps, speak to your orthopaedic doctors to see
where their support lies. Involve your managers in the different orthopaedic
units.)
-
Establish a Board of Directors:
-
President
-
President-elect
-
Secretary Treasurer
-
Membership/Archives
-
Publicity/Education
-
Bylaws/Nominating
You could split some of these positions to share
the workload and some have combined roles for ease of managing.
Send this list to the Membership Chairperson of
CONA.
-
The National Membership Chairperson of CONA will acknowledge and send a
temporary chapter status notification.
-
Hold meetings to come every month or two. Encourage an educational
component at all meetings. Advertise your meetings.
-
Documentation of viability (such as minutes of meetings held, educational
sessions, attendance, financial status, etc.) is required one month prior to
the next National Conference. In this case, it would be by the end of April
2000.
-
The National Board will discuss, approve and introduce you at the
Conference.
-
Pick a name and Logo for your Chapter and send news of happenings of your
Chapter to the Communication and Marketing Chairperson to be acknowledged in
Orthoscope.
